An exceptionally scarce, original July 1916 wide-format panoramic silver gelatin photograph capturing the 14th Brigade, CFA, CEF during mobilization at Camp Petawawa. Extensive market research indicates that no other contemporary copies are currently available in the public trade. While there may be copies held in private collections, the only other known surviving examples of this specific print are preserved within the permanent collections of the Canadian War Museum.
Condition & Detail Note:
While the paper borders show expected historical edge wear and age-appropriate handling marks consistent with an unbacked, rolled 110-year-old artifact, the main body of the panorama features stunningly fine, crisp detail. Individual soldier faces, uniforms, background canvas tent lines, horse lines, and the 58th Howitzer Battery musical instruments remain incredibly sharp and clear. The most likely photographer was Neapole & Harding Photo Studios of Pembroke. The studio operated from 1911 to 1923, and historical information indicates that Harry Robert Neapole photographed many of the early military camps at Petawawa, including Canadian Field Artillery units.
